Tribute to Andy Wiersma

On Sunday, July 27th our dear friend and brother in Christ, Andy Wiersma was tragically killed in a car accident. Andy, age 26, was the youth minister at Marshall Evangelical Free Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Andy led his youth group on SLAM’s Juarez, Mexico mission trip in June of this year.

Andy was a delight to work with during our time together in Mexico. He led his group of 12 on their very first missions experience outside of the US. His positive attitude, work ethic, and commitment to both Christ and his students had a great effect on both his students and the Mexican people.
Please be in prayer for Andy’s parents as they suffer the loss of their beloved son. Also, we ask that you pray for the Marshall Evangelical Free youth group as they endure the loss of their leader. They have expressed that God has been doing something special in their group since the Mexico trip in June, and the tragic loss of Andy has brought them even closer together.

Our ministry’s band, UnNamed Servant, planned a trip with Andy to play for the Marshall EV Free youth group in November. The band and the church are currently working out a way to honor Andy through their time of ministry together.
