Service Plunge Wrap-Up

On Wednesday, August 6th, Students Living a Mission (SLAM) facilitated a service plunge at the Campus for Human Development with youth from Belmont United Methodist Church. SLAM has been working with the CHD to care for the homeless and recovering drug addicts in Nashville for three years.

The day began with a tour of the campus facilities and a briefing of how the CHD serves the community of Nashville. The CHD is a faith based organization that has a heart for the underprivileged and poor in the Nashville community. Read more

Tribute to Andy Wiersma

On Sunday, July 27th our dear friend and brother in Christ, Andy Wiersma was tragically killed in a car accident. Andy, age 26, was the youth minister at Marshall Evangelical Free Church in Marshall, Minnesota. Andy led his youth group on SLAM’s Juarez, Mexico mission trip in June of this year.

Andy was a delight to work with during our time together in Mexico. He led his group of 12 on their very first missions experience outside of the US. His positive attitude, work ethic, and commitment to both Christ and his students had a great effect on both his students and the Mexican people. Read more
